Essex Wildlife Trust

Essex Wildlife Trust protects wildlife through landscape conservation and education. The Trust manages a number of nature reserves and discovery centres across the Maldon District. Their campaigns aim to help to give wildlife a greater voice in our county.

Essex Wildlife Trust was established in 1959 as a local wildlife charity, supported by over 1900 volunteers and over 38,000 members. Together, they protect and care for wildlife and wild places across Essex and the Maldon District.

The Maldon District is fortunate to have a rich and varied selection of wildlife habitats. Our 75 miles long coastline, and varied rural countryside and ancient woodland offer a perfect home to many species including sea birds, seals and waders. The landscape has evolved over thousands of years in response to many factors both human and environmental.

Essex Wildlife Trust manages and cares for several beautiful sites within the District, you can find out more about these locations using the list and map detail below.

So whether you’re trying to get the perfect photo or enjoying watching some of your favourite wildlife (from a responsible distance), then the Maldon District is just for you!
