The Hay Wain

Described as East Anglia’s answer to Les Miserables, The Hay Wain flips the popular rural nostalgic ideal of John Constable’s most famous landscape painting by bringing to life the people that populate the picture; lives defined not by simplicity and virtue, but by hardship, hope and resilience.
Created to mark the two-hundredth anniversary of John Constable’s most famous painting, back in 2021, this critically acclaimed play with music is now back on tour to mark the 250th anniversary of Constable’s birth.
