Vineyards and Breweries

The Maldon District boasts several award winning breweries and vineyards. There are plenty of opportunities to try local ales and wines in the many scenic public houses across the District including two micro-pubs in Maldon. Tours of the breweries and vineyards are available, and throughout the year there are various events which make for great days out.

The Perfect Climate

Vineyards have existed in the Maldon District for hundreds of years due to the advantageous climate between the River Blackwater and the River Crouch. The area offers hot dry summers and mild winters which helps to produce high quality grapes with naturally high sugars.

The south facing slopes of the Crouch Vale provides protection against frost and has an excellent temperate climate allowing for classic grape varieties to grow, such as Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. This part of the Maldon District also benefits from warm temperatures and one of the lowest rainfalls in the UK.

There is a fantastic selction of vineyards and breweries to explore across the Maldon District. You can find more details about these venues at the bottom of the page.
