Remembrance Sunday Service

Sunday 9th November 2025 at 10.50am

War Memorial, High Street, Maldon

Maldon Town Council invites all to remember our fallen heroes at the Act of Remembrance and Wreath Laying, to be held at 10.50am on Sunday 9th November 2025, at the War Memorial on Maldon High Street.

Organised in partnership with the Royal British Legion and led by Father Andrew Appiah of St. Mary’s Church, the service will provide an opportunity for the community to come together and pay tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

At 11am, we will invite the Townspeople to pause for a two-minute silence and reflect on the service and sacrifices the Armed Forces make on our behalf. Wreaths will be laid as a symbol of our collective gratitude and remembrance. Those wishing to lay a wreath should contact us in advance on administration@maldontowncouncil.gov.uk, or 01621 857373.

To allow the parade and ceremony to take place safely, the High Street will be closed to all traffic beteen Market Hill and West Square from 10am-11.45am. Diversions will be via Mill Road, Cross Road and Fambridge Road.

The drape of poppies will again be displayed on the Moot Hall. It was made by more than sixty volunteers, who attached 5000 poppies, in a design by the very talented Wendy Munnion.

Parking will be available in local car parks, with free parking from 4pm at Promenade Park, White Horse Lane, and Butt Lane Car Parks.

Come and join us as Maldon lights up for Christmas! It’s a wonderful opportunity to gather with family and friends, enjoy the festive atmosphere, and kick off the most wonderful time of the year.
