About

Burnham’s Memorial Garden, known locally as the Tommy Garden, is a little haven of peace and quiet dedicated to the memories of soldiers who died in the First World War. On the corner of Chapel Road, within sight of the main war memorial, the garden provides a permanent home to the Tommy statue which was installed originally by the library to mark the 100th anniversary of the end of the Great War. The beautiful “Lest We Forget” metal bench, which features silhouettes of wartime soldiers, provides a comfortable spot to rest a while, and red cyclamens have been planted to give the area some colour.
