We want every visitor to Maldon District to have a great day out – including those who have a disability. We hope the following information will be helpful:
Disabled parking
Those who display a Blue Badge may park free of charge in any of the council-run car parks all day, in any space apart from in the 30-minute only spaces. Maldon’s car parks also have the following marked, extra-large spaces for disabled users:
- White Horse – 10 spaces
- Butt Lane – 10 spaces
- High Street East – three spaces
- Friary Fields – four spaces
- Carmelite Way (Saturday and Sunday only) – three spaces
- Council Offices (Saturday and Sunday only) – 10 spaces
- Promenade Park Coach Park – four spaces
- Promenade Park main car park behind the golf - five spaces
In addition, you will also find on-street disabled parking bays in White Horse Lane in front of Maldon Library (four bays), at the top of Market Hill opposite the Town Hall (one bay) and at the bottom end of the High Street opposite the entrance to High Street East car park (one bay). Parking in these spaces is allowed for up to three hours and a timed badge must be displayed. Please note that some of these bays do not have dropped kerb access or may be shorter than standard disabled spaces, so may not be suitable for wheelchair users.
Visitors with a Blue Badge are also permitted to park on single or double yellow lines for up to three hours (providing the vehicle is not causing an obstruction), and a timed badge must be displayed.
Changing Places toilets
There is a Changing Places facility in the main Promenade Park toilet block, close to the Splash Park and skate park, with disabled parking spaces outside. The toilet is accessed via a RADAR key. A loop sling is required and the unit has a track hoist. The toilets are open from 7:30 to dusk, with extended opening hours during certain special events.
We are in the process of developing two additional Changing Places, but these are not yet available. There is an additional facility at Sainsbury’s in Burnham Road, South Woodham Ferrers CM3 5QP which is open 7:00 to 22:00 Monday to Saturday and 10:00 to 16:00 on Sundays. This toilet has a track hoist and a loop sling is required.

Buses can only carry one wheelchair user at a time and cannot carry mobility scooters.
