Just 40 miles from London, the Maldon District is accessible via numerous transport and road links
Local bus services also connect the towns and villages across the District to Chelmsford, Witham and Hatfield Peverel which then connect to onward journeys to other towns in Essex and beyond.
National Express coaches serve Colchester, which connects with Maldon via local bus services.

If you want to leave the car at home, visit us by train instead! We are linked directly to London Liverpool Street via Wickford on the Crouch Valley Line. Stations include North Fambridge, Althorne, Burnham-on-Crouch and Southminster, which offer great links to the south of the District, including our Vineyards, Nature Reserves and the Blackwater Estuary.

There is good access to the Maldon District via the A12, M25 and A13. From the A12, take the A414 (Junction 18) or the B1019 (Junction 20) for Maldon.
For the Dengie Peninsula, take the B1010 or B1018. You can also access the Dengie Peninsula from the A13 and A130 via the A132 continuing on the B1012.

The Maldon District offers both short and easy circular tours as well as longer routes, mostly on quiet country lanes, which allow both occasional and committed cyclists to enjoy this area to the full.
The District is popular with long-distance riders who are travelling through Essex into London and Kent, up through Essex to Suffolk and Norfolk, as well as those travelling to catch a ferry at Harwich. National Cycle Route 1 passes through the Maldon District; this route runs from Dover to Shetland, and is 1,695 miles long.

The Maldon District is ideally located for visitors arriving from overseas due to its close proximity to London and good connections to the rest of East Anglia and Essex.
The District can be easily reached from Stansted, Southend, London City, Heathrow and Gatwick airports.
