Maldon Promenade Park model boating and crabbing lake

Book Tickets Online

About

The small lake at Promenade Park is perfect for model boating, and is regularly used by clubs and enthusiasts of radio controlled boats. It is also a safe place for children to enjoy crabbing as the water is relatively shallow and the banks are firm - please note that there are no lifeguards so children should be supervised. The lake is also used for children's kayaking activities in the summertime, and all users are asked to be respectful of the varied uses of the lake.

It is also a popular venue for schools and youth organisations, but large groups should book in advance please.

HEALTH AND SAFETY CLOSURES: The model boating lake is normally open during daylight hours, however there are rare occasions on which it is temporarily shut, generally either if ice is expected and it might freeze (presenting a tempting danger to children), or when very high tides are anticipated to come up over the promenade and into the lake, which again could present a health and safety risk. You are advised to check any weather/flooding warnings for the area before making a special visit.
