About

Maldon Salt has been producing its unique pyramid-shaped crystals in the coastal town of Maldon since 1882, in the capable hands of four generations of master salt makers from the Osborne family.

The salt, still made in the traditional way, is famous all over the world and used as the seasoning of choice by top chefs everywhere. It is available in new flavours, including smoked, garlic and chilli salt and in a variety of sizes. Traditionally served at the table in a salt "pig", you can buy pigs, and the salt to go in them, at various locations around Maldon. Please note that Maldon Salt does not have a retail shop or visitor centre and there is no access to the public at the salt works.

Although the company has a modern facility elsewhere, you can view the exterior of the historic, black weatherboarded salt works building from the public footpath off Downs Road, Maldon.
